Matteo Giardiello is a photographer who explores territory as both a physical space and an abstract dimension, moving between documentation and interpretation. His research investigates the relationship between humans and the spaces they inhabit, questioning how matter persists, transforms, or disappears over time.
Recently, his work has focused on a return to materiality, opposing digital dematerialization by examining textures, traces, and transformations in everyday life. This reflection extends to the materiality of film photography itself—its grain, imperfections, and the density of prints add a tangible presence, emphasizing the connection between medium and subject.
Through this approach, he develops a visual language where observation of reality merges with a contemplative dimension, turning territory into a constantly evolving palimpsest.
